All but a few of my couples have a pre-wedding shoot (sometimes called an engagement shoot) normally a few months before their wedding. It’s a great opportunity to eliminate camera nerves. Most of us, including me, are normally a bit camera shy or we can feel like a rabbit in the headlights not knowing how to stand, where to look or even what to do with our hands.
By having a pre-wedding shoot, it not only provides you with a unique variety of images for you to share with your friends and family, but is also a great opportunity for me to teach you a variety of tips and tricks to help you look your best and get the most out of your photographs on your wedding day.
Your session also gives us time to get to know one another a bit better and build a great rapport enabling you to feel even more comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Everyone looks great with confidence and I’ll help you to settle any nerves or worries about being photographed on your special day.
By having a Pre-wedding shoot or an engagement shoot, you will gain an understanding on how I’ll direct you and your other 1/2 on your wedding day to help you both get the most out of your photography. By booking a pre-wedding shoot I can guarantee that you’ll feel a lot more relaxed and confident in front on the camera on your wedding which will reflect in your photos.
It is a great opportunity for us to discuss your upcoming wedding in greater depth and details closer to the big day. A pre-wedding shoot is also a great way to “try out” your hair stylist and make-up artist before the big day. You’ll get to see how you’ll look in professional photos, and advise your style team if you want any adjustments made for your wedding.
Throughout the whole of the session I try to keep the mood fun, fresh and relaxed. I like to include a good amount of movement and interaction within my shoots, this keeps you both relaxed and you focus on each other instead of feeling awkward in front of the camera, I try to avoid anything that’s too cheesy or cliché.
Some of my past couples have used some of the images from the pre-wedding shoot to announce their engagement or for their wedding day invites or save the date cards, you can even choose to get a small photobook printed for your guest book at the wedding or a large frame for guests to sign.
We have a great selection of recommended locations where we often shoot our sessions, however, if you have booked the extended session we can alter the location to a certain venue that has a special meaning to you as a couple. We will always recommend this as it can definitely help keep you relaxed and it add a small personal touch.
A one-hour pre-wedding shoot in and around Maidstone, Kent is included in our deluxe package, with an extended and tailored session built into our ultimate package lasting two and a half hours, this can span over two locations providing you a much larger portfolio of images.
'The Pre-Shoot helped us celebrate our engagement. It also helped us to get more comfortable in front of the camera, and understand what it is you needed in order to get a good shot, positioning. Once we got the pictures we were able to say, oh that pose looks good, it then made the wedding day so much more relaxed which was very important for us, as the day was supposed to be chilled and not rigid and military.'
