Sam & Michelle
I was honoured when Sam contacted me about photographing his wedding. I used to go to school with him but as we grew old we lost contact - it was great to meet his fiancé Michelle and share all our old stories! They were one of the most laid back and relaxed couples I have photographed, they were truly the perfect couple to work with on their wedding day.
Before their big day, we organised a pre-shoot, and Michelle and Sam brought along their little girl Poppy to join in the fun. We all met at a local park in Kent they all visit as a family.
Sam and Michelle had chosen to get married at The Secret Garden just outside of Ashford - a stunning venue with friendly staff and amazing food!
The day started with Michelle getting ready with her close family and bridesmaids at her childhood family home in Bearsted. After capturing all the important details, including the dress, we took a few portraits of all the girls in the garden before heading down the road to The Secret Garden.
While I was with Michelle, my second photographer James was able to photograph Sam’s reaction when his brother turned up with his surprise car for the day - a replica of Bumblebee from Transformers! Once all the guys had suited up, James tried to keep up with them as they drove to the venue.
I managed to there well before Michelle so I could capture her arrival. The bride looked stunning in her timeless dress. Sam’s was clearly breathless as she was accompanied down the aisle by her now mother-in-law and their daughter Poppy. James and I were both able to capture the ceremony from a variety of angles to ensure we missed nothing.
Once the ceremony and signing of the register had finished, the bride and groom walked down the aisle into a flurry of confetti from all the friends and family. As we emerged outside, the British September sun stayed out made for some picturesque lighting to shoot.
I took a few family group photos while my second photographer was able capture all the amazing flowers and details in the garden room where afternoon tea was to be served.
The garden room at The Secret Garden was an incredible place to shoot the speeches – a unique, interesting and truly magical setting.
The Garden Room has massive windows all along bathe everyone in beautiful light, ensuring I could capture fantastic photos of everyone’s reactions.
As the sun moved closer to the horizon, I took the bride and groom outside to shoot just the two of them. Again, the lighting was amazing and, paired with the stunning gardens as a backdrop, these made for some incredible photos.
We then left the bride and groom to enjoy their intimate evening reception with all their guests.
As the light faded, all the guests played a great game where they voted who was most likely to (or rather not to) perform a variety of tasks – everyone was having a raucous time and it was great to capture.
To finish the night, the bride and groom left The Secret Garden with a sparkler exit to their car and a romantic get away!
The celebrations were continued two days later with their extended reception in Lordswood. Myself and James were on hand to continue to capture Sam and Michelle as they were greeted by another collection of guests for their first dance and some photo booth fun!
Sam and Michelle chose my deluxe package and were presented with over 550 images, and over 75 images from their pre-wedding shoot.
"The photos that Ed has given us are absolutely amazing! He was so much more than just a photographer, the little things he did throughout the day really helped me stay relaxed and allowed me to enjoy the day, instead of worrying about all the silly thing! All my friends and family said how friendly and considerate Ed and James were on both day! Thank again for the amazing memories you managed to capture for us!" - Sam & Michelle
